In Memoriam

Spot

On April 6, 2008, Ivy Hill lost one of our beloved therapeutic horses, Spot, to Colic. Colic, otherwise known as stomach pain, is a very painful condition horses sometimes get. Despite the efforts of Megan and our vet, the decision was made to put Spot down so he was not forced to continue suffering.

Spot had come to Ivy Hill in 2007 and was the youngest member of our equine family. He was completely white and everyone always wondered where his spots were? Then, after a day of bathing, they finally found his spots - they were on his skin! Spot was a gentle horse who was great for our more independent rider's as his didn't enjoy lead line lessons. He was extremely expressive and we often joked that we could see his soul when we looked into his eyes. He will be greatly missed by all who had the chance to know and love him during his brief time with us.

A memorial fund has been set up in his honor to his memory. Funds will be used to help pay for his veterinary care, to purchase a replacement horse and for future emergency care for all of our horses. We would like to thank the many people who have already donated to this fund. If you would like to make a donation, please send a check to: "Spot's Memorial Fund", c/o Ivy Hill Equestrian, P.O.
